Inle Lake

Mandalay

Yangon - Inle Lake - Mandalay

YANGON ARRIVAL (-, -, -)

Your tour guide will warmly welcome and meet you upon arrival at Yangon International Airport; and transfer you to your hotel (Early check-in is subject to available). At 14:00, you will start the tour of Yangon which includes colonial-style city center and a stroll through the BOGYOKE (SCOTTS) MARKET, a compound of hundreds of food, garment, handicrafts and gem stores. Complete your day with a “must visit” to the SHWEDAGON PAGODA, one of the world’s holiest monuments. Both lunch and dinner are on your own account. Overnight stay in Yangon. Note: Bogyoke (Scotts) Market is closed on Monday and Public Holidays.

YANGON – HEHO – INLE LAKE (Breakfast, -, -)

In the morning, your guide will pick you up at your hotel and transfer to the airport for domestic flight to HEHO. Upon arrival in Heho, you will proceed by overland through the Shan Hills to Nyaung Shwe and then embark on a boat for a visit to the village of THEI LEI OO, an organic rural farming village that lies on the eastern shore of Inle Lake, strategically located at the heart of one of the farming areas on the lake. The inhabitants of the village are Inn Tha and Pa Oh ethnic minority groups who have organic farming skills. The major organic crops are rice, sugar cane, potato, tomato, garlic and a variety of beans, as well as cucumber and flowers. During the winter season (November to February) the harvested sugar cane is sent to small onsite molasses plants where the juice is extracted, made into molasses, and then sent to the city for use in the production of Mandalay Rum. You will follow an agro trail that runs from the lake through the village and the surrounding organic farmland in a wide looping curve back to the lake.  You will experience an excellent window into a simple village life. Then, there will be a transfer by boat to MAING THAUK village, located on the eastern shore of the lake. The guide will walk you through the village and continue uphill (walking time approximately 1 hour) under the shade of the trees to the village stupa. Then, you will continue by car to AYETHAYA Winery of Myanmar. On the way, you will experience breathtaking and picturesque serene landscape across the valley and Inle Lake against the hazy mountains. Both lunch and dinner are on your own account. Overnight stay at Inle Lake.

INLE LAKE (Breakfast, -, -)

After breakfast, the guide will take you on an excursion by boat in and around Inle Lake.  This includes experiencing the boat travel by famous one-legged rowers, viewing the  typical floating gardens, local fishing with a cone shaped bamboo basket, lake dwellers’ simple life and the surrounding, tranquilizing scenery. Inle Lake excursion is incomplete without a visit to the PHAUNGDAW OO PAGODA, a historic and cultural heritage dating back to the 18th century; the weaving village of INPAWKHON and the floating market (venue is by rotation) of the lake dwellers. A visit to a weaving factory is an experience to see how the unique lotus fabric is handwoven. Both lunch and dinner are on your own account. Overnight stay at Inle Lake.

INLE LAKE – MANDALAY – AMARAPURA (Breakfast, -, -)

The vacation morning starts with travel by road from Taunggyi to MANDALAY , an adventurous driving excursion for an approximately 8-hours, with stops whenever needed. You will experience  endless paddy fields and rolling down hills with stops for photography and nature calls .  Upon arrival in Mandalay, the guide will take you to AMARAPURA, for sightseeing , a recognized destination  with a  visit to the 200-year-old U BEIN teak bridge (built 1782) and get the sunset experience in Myanmar. Both lunch and dinner are on your own account. Overnight stay in Mandalay.

MANDALAY (Breakfast, -, -)

After breakfast, experience the hotspots of Mandalay which include the SHWE INBIN MONASTERY; the GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY, an amazing traditional wooden building and KUTHODAW PAGODA the world’s largest book inscribed in marble. Visiting the MAHAMUNI PAGODA., particularly the early morning rituals is an experience of Myanmar culture and tradition. Mandalay is unique for major Myanmar cultural arts and crafts. You will love experiencing at the gold leaf manufacturing workshop, where the gold leaf packets are brought to be offered at the pagodas and temples. Another experience is the Kalaga tapestry craftsmanship after which you will proceed for a sunset view from  Mandalay Hill. Both lunch and dinner are on your own account. Overnight stay in Mandalay.
