Yangon

Naypyitaw

Naypyitaw, which means “Royal Capital” in Burmese, the seat of the government, is located in the central part of Myanmar. The Uppatasanti Pagoda, a replica of Yangon’s famous Shwedagon Pagoda, the Maravijaya Buddha – the world’s largest 81 feet (25m) high marble Buddha Image in bhumiphassa mudra; the Water Fountain Garden and Gem Museum are its cultural attractions and landmarks worth exploring. Naypyidaw connects to Yangon, Mandalay, and Bagan, making it easily accessible by road, air and rail.

Bagan

Bagan, the “Land of a Thousand Temples, was the capital of the Bagan Kingdom. Bagan is home to over 2,000 ancient temples and pagodas. A few days’ visit to Bagan would allow you to select and explore some most famous temples and pagodas such as Ananda Temple, Shwezigon Pagoda, Dhammayangyi Temple, and Thatbyinnyu Temple. The stunning sunsets and sunrises over the temple-studded plains is one of the highlights “not to be missed” in Bagan. Appreciate the incredible landscape of the Bagan Archaeological Zone on an early morning “hot air balloon”. Bagan is a treasure trove of Myanmar’s rich cultural heritage and offers a truly unforgettable journey back to the past; meet the local community, their passion for art and craft; music and dances; local food and delicacies.

Mandalay

Mandalay, nestled along the Ayeyarwaddy River in central Myanmar, is a captivating blend of tradition and modernity. Pay homage to one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Mandalay, Mahamuni Buddha. Another is the Kuthodaw Pagoda – housing the “World’s Largest Book,” a collection of 729 marble slabs inscribed with Buddhist scriptures, each housed in its own small stupa. Capture the magical sunset with the mesmerizing beauty of U Bein Bridge. Local people traverse the bridge on foot, bicycles, and ox carts, creating an iconic tableau of rural life in Myanmar. The historic town of Amarapura is popular for its ancient temples, monasteries, and traditional handicrafts. Yangon - Nay Pyi Taw - Bagan - Mandalay

YANGON ARRIVAL (-, -, -)

Meet upon arrival at Yangon International Airport. Your tour guide will  welcome and transfer you to your hotel (Early check-in is subject to availability). At 14:00, you will start the tour of Yangon which includes colonial-style city center and a stroll through the Bogyoke (SCOTTS) Market, a conventional shopping paradise for food, traditional ready to wear and fabrics, handicrafts and gems and jewelry. Yangon day tour is complete with a visit to  the world’s holy icon- the Shwedagon Pagoda. Both lunch and dinner are on your own account and overnight stay in Yangon. Note: Bogyoke (Scotts) Market is closed on Mondays and Public Holidays.

YANGON – NAYPYITAW (Breakfast, -, -)

After breakfast at hotel, you will leave from Yangon and travel overland to Nay Pyi Taw - about 5-6 hours on the national highway. A brief stop at 115 Miles, for personal hygiene, snacks and drinks. Arrive in Nay Pyi Taw in the late afternoon. Both lunch and dinner; and any incidentals are on your own account and overnight stay in Nay Pyi Taw.

NAYPYITAW (Breakfast, -, -)

After breakfast at the hotel, the tour guide will take you on an orientation tour of Naypyitaw, including a visit to Uppatasanti Pagoda- standing at an impressive height of 325 feet  was built in 2006 and completed in 2009.  Its design is reminiscent of the legendary Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. The tour will take you next to Maravijaya Buddha, the world’s  highest marble Buddha and then to Naypyidaw Gem Museum (closed on Mondays and Government Holidays). After visiting the Gem Museum, you will be transferred to a local restaurant for lunch (on your own account). After lunch, a car and guide will be at your disposal for your own private time.  In the evening, there will be a visit to the Water Fountain Garden. Then,  you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy dinner on your own account and overnight stay in Naypyitaw.

NAYPYITAW – MOUNT POPA – BAGAN (Breakfast, -, -)

After breakfast at your hotel, the tour guide will accompany you by overland drive from Naypyitaw to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano featuring a shrine dedicated to animist spirits known as “Nats”. For the energetically inclined, there is an opportunity to climb the 777 steps leading to the shrine at the top of the volcanic plug, and along the way a population of monkeys. After lunch (on your own account) at Popa Mountain Resort, proceed by road to Bagan. Upon arrival in Bagan , you will check-in at your hotel. Private time for dinner, on your own account and overnight stay in Bagan.

BAGAN (Breakfast, -, -)

Optional: Experience the magic of Bagan and a thousand years of history from the enchanting platform of a hot air balloon. ‘Balloons ride over Bagan’ is a sensational experience which offer visitors exclusive sunrise champagne flights over the ancient pagodas and temples of Bagan from October to March. After breakfast, a drive to the colorful local market and a stroll through the vendors’ shops are local experiences for meeting the community and photography. The tour guide will accompany you to the Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; the tour guide will explain about the 12th century frescoes adorning the corridors of Kyansittha Cave Temple. Then you will visit the three shrines of Payathonzu which are connected by passages adorned with Mahayanist or Tantric mural paintings and Nandamanya Temples noted for exquisite murals of 13th century. Bagan is not only the site of thousands of  years old temples and pagodas, but also of many quaint villages scattered throughout the temple plain. A visit to the village of Minnanthu will show you the lifestyle of the local people. Your tour guide will accompany you to a local restaurant for private lunch (on your own account). After lunch, you will learn about one of Myanmar’s most treasured handicrafts at a lacquerware craftsmen’s workshop. Next, you will explore the Myingaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple, a temple noteworthy for its mural paintings under the protection of UNESCO. Then you will continue touring to Dhammayangyi, a massive temple dating from 1170 and well known for its interlocking mortar less brickwork. The day tour is complete with a sunset viewing experience over the Bagan plains. Private time and Dinner will be on your own account and overnight stay in Bagan.

BAGAN – MANDALAY – AMARAPURA (Breakfast, -, -)

After breakfast, the morning begins with an approximately 6-hour drive through diverse agricultural landscapes to Mandalay. Upon arrival in Mandalay, the tour guide will help you with the check-in at your hotel. In the evening, you will  visit Amarapura, famous for its 200-year-old U Bein teak bridge, built in 1782 when Amarapura was the Royal capital. Experience the beautiful sunset. Both lunch and dinner are on your own account. Overnight stay in Mandalay.

MANDALAY (Breakfast, -, -)

After breakfast, tour the environs of Mandalay : the Shwe Inbin Monastery; and the Golden Palace Monastery, models of traditional wooden buildings; and then the Kuthodaw Pagoda-  the world’s largest book inscribed in marble. The next stop will be the Mahamuni Pagoda- the PhayarGyi which is one of the most revered and “must visit” religious monuments of Myanmar in Mandalay. You will also visit Mandalay’s major arts and crafts center – the gold-leaf manufacturing workshop and a Kalaga tapestry craftsmen’s shop before proceeding to the Mandalay Hill for a well recommended sunset experience. Both lunch and dinner are on your own account. Overnight stay in Mandalay.
